Jakarta – Belmawa. Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Mohamad Nasir swears in the new Director General of Learning and Student Affairs, Ismunandar in the Auditorium of Building D Kemenristekdikti Senayan Jakarta (29/11). The Director General was selected through an open selection process in accordance to the ASN Regulation number 5 Year 2014, replacing Intan Ahmad who has served in the position since June 30, 2015 and has entered retirement.
Ismunandar was the youngest Professor at ITB, in the Chemistry Department (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences). As an award-winning student at ITB, he a completed his undergraduate education in 1992 from the Chemistry Department of ITB, then continued his doctoral studies at the University of Sydney, Australia, graduating in 1998. Some of the awards he has received are the Gold Award Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering for research excellence, 1999; Indonesia Toray Science Foundation Award, 2000; Fellowship from the Minister of Science, Technology, Culture and Sport Japan, 2002; Hitachi Foundation; Research Fellowships to do research in Japan, 2003; Satya Lencana 10 years, 2006; Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Awards, 2006. Dr. Previously Ismunandar was the Cultural and Education Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC, United States of America.
In his speech, Minister Nasir also reminded attendees of the importance of literacy in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Era, especially in higher education. Minister Nasir believes the new Director General of Learning and Student Affairs, Ismunandar, can create a good working environment through good governance along with the other Director Generals, Expert Staff, and Echelon II officials at Kemenristekdikti, especially in the field of Quality Assurance of Higher Education in Indonesia.
Menristekdikti would like to take this opportunity to thank Intan Ahmad for his hard work during past 3 years, and for his efforts in improving access to and quality of learning as well as quality assurance of higher education. During his time as Director General of Belmawa (2015-2018), Intan has successfully designed a variety of breakthrough programs such as the Online Learning System (SPADA), Teaching Profession Education (PPG), Electronic Degree Verification System (SIVIL), National Diploma Numbering (PIN), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI), Indonesia Research Education Network (IdREN), and other breakthrough programs.
